4Works in Los Angeles!  Jul 28, 2010 By P. Chun
My wife recently gave me a new iPod Nano. I wanted to use it in my car but, my old FM transmitter stopped working. I set out to find a new transmitter that will be compatible and one that in particular, connected to the iPod via the headphone jack. I have bought several different FM transmitters that connected to the bottom connector of the iPod that didn't work very well in Los Angeles. The only one that did work was the NewerTech RoadTrip FM that just had the headphone connector. However, it broke and it is not sold anymore.

Decided to give the AllKit FM Transmitter a try. I figure for less than $8 bucks, what the heck. Well, I've been using it for about a month now and it works great, even with the busy airways here in Los Angeles. Also used it on a five hour road trip to Carmel and it worked like a champ. The sound is pretty good. Not as good as a directly connected iPod but, unfortunately, I bought my Outback one year early and I don't feel like taking apart my whole console and using a soldering iron on my stereo to add an aux jack.

I haven't tried the remote yet but, I'll give it a try soon. I usually just put my iPod on shuffle so I usually don't touch it while driving. The unit itself feels a little flimsy and the side clamps are already jammed but, for what I paid, I'm just glad I can listen to my new iPod while I drive around LA county. For about $14.00 total including shipping, this is a bargain. My $40 plus monster FM transmitter never worked as good.

4Love it!  Jul 04, 2010 By FutureE9 "Ed"
This thing works like a charm. I plug my iTouch into it; it securely holds it; it charges it and it plays my tunes through my stereo. I originally purchased it to charge my iTouch while using it as a GPS. in my car there are 2 cigarette lighter ports. This now permanently occupies one of them.

2The older model rocks  Jan 02, 2011 By R. Cates "The Box Man"
I bought the older model in September it is awesome.
This is a new and improved model.
1st it has a remote that control the phone and the transmiter. It's cool
2nd the light on the cigeratee lighter is dimmer, cool
3rd the display for the station is blue instead of white. Nice
4th the sound level from the dock connector is louder.

Now the problems that are not present on the original.
On 3G service it works great. But on the edge it starts making cell noise then IT BLOCKS CELL SERVICE. The tower will ignor the phone for 5-15 min. Turning the phone off and on does not help
Next when the unit looses power it forgets what station it was on and goes back to 88.1
The wire to the headphone jack is longer but very cheap and the plastic breaks the first time you use it.

Now you might think I got a bad unit, but I loved the first unit and paid over one hundred dollars for it. When I found this one I didn't know it was not the same unit and bought four of them. They are all the same

Would not buy again but didn't return.
When someone asks about them I let them borrow one if they like it I tell them where to get it.
The only one that asked has a touch

3humming  Jun 01, 2011 By M. Stevens "Paradoxicon"
Bought this to replace an older transmitter that was dying. There are a few things wrong with this item, most notably that it makes a "humming" noise through the radio. It is not interference, but instead seems to be coming from the unit itself, as I have tried many different channels, and it is there on all of them. Quite irritating.
It seems that who ever designed this item doesn't understand how gravity works, and has the unit pointing upward from the cigarette plug, so that the vibrations of the vehicle tend to make it fall over. This is easily fixed by unscrewing the goose-neck, and flipping it around so that the unit hangs downward instead of upward.
There doesn't seem to be a way to program stations into it, although I just might be missing something here.
It seems to hold my ipod well enough, but I would prefer a base mounted plug instead of a plug on a cord.
All in all, I would have been happy with it if it didn't have that humming sound coming through the speakers.

2Just so-so.  May 01, 2011 By nw
The good:
-FM transmits perfectly in high quality sound with ipod and cell phone.
-Easily visible, adjustable positioning.
-Multifunctional- can use cell phones, ipods, memory sticks, etc with the device.

The bad:
-After ~1 wk the rubber pieces around the plug deformed and won't hold upright in the cigarette lighter so the device flips or sways with vehicle movement. (I only plugged and unplugged the device twice and very carefully).
-If the device is upright you have to aim the remote straight down at it from above in order for it to work.
-Somehow blocks cell phone signal (goes from 4 bars to none when my cell is plugged into it) so I couldn't use it as a hands-free for my cell (without dropping calls almost immediately), or as a gps (without losing signal), etc.
-Minor aesthetic issue with the wires being much longer than necessary and sticking out.

Summary:
I bought this because it seemed to be a multipurpose device so I wouldn't need seperate mounts for my GPS, an FM transmitter, a hands-free cell phone (which I also use for pandora). Great idea, but just doesnt cut it functionally. Unless you're solely looking for an FM transmitter for ipod...skip it.
