Description

Navigate maximizes convenient control of your iPod. It has control buttons your fingers can easily locate by touch, and it restores the tactile feedback of the iconic click wheel to touchscreen models. (Which comes in pretty handy when you're using it in a car and need to keep your eyes on the road.) About the size of a pack of matches, Navigate gives you a generous OLED information screen (for when you need to glance at it), on/off, play, volume and EQ controls, and an FM stereo radio. Tuck your iPod out of sight, but keep controls close at hand. Features stereo mini-jack for headphone connections with FM radio and volume control. iPhone users: Just plug Navigate into your dock connector, then connect your headset to the headphone jack of your iPhone to listen and talk.

5Excellent remote. A tips for not killing your battery.  Dec 28, 2010 By R. Martinez
I recently purchased a new iPod Touch 4G. I use it in the car, at the gym, or traveling by airplane a lot and I often found it annoying that the display would shut off and I had to fumble with the device to see what was playing or advance songs or change volume. With the touch screen you really have to look at the ipod to see what you are doing. This remote solves that with the built in display. Now I can take a quick glance at the remote to see the song name and artist, and change tracks, mode, or volume, just by feel (and keep my eyes on the road). The remote has a clip so I can attach it to my shirt when working out.

I don't notice any change in sound quality or battery life (see tip below).

A tip I have learned. When I first got the Navigate I noticed that I would shut off the ipod and remote but later I would see that both would mysteriously turn on. Sometimes 20 minutes later, sometimes 2 hrs later. If I left the remote plugging all night it would kill my battery, Griffin tech support didn't have a solution so I thought I was going to have to unplug it every time I turned off my ipod or risk running the battery down. Then I finally realized that it was the ipod Wi-Fi that was the culprit. When I turned on "airplane mode", then problem went away. This was no problem in the long run, because I don't need wi-fi when I am driving or an an airplane.

I highly recommend this product.

2Won't last very long  Sep 02, 2010 By Steven Sternbach "Book Creator"
My first "Navigate" lasted about 6 months. Griffin was nice enough to replace it when I let them know it just ceased operating. They sent me another one which I'm about to toss after 4 months. This one refuses to hold an FM channel and keeps switching to the music on my iPod. When will they design an iPod with an AM/FM radio built in?

4Very Useful Device  Dec 08, 2011 By E. Escalante
Bought this with the intension of switching between songs (etc) without having to take out an iDevice. Wish granted. The remote helps navigate through your playlists, EQ, fm radio, skip songs and a few others. Great design and serves its purpose. The only drawback is that (in this case) my ipod touch screen turns on each time a song is skipped. The screen stays on for a little while before turning off, but it might be just enough to drain the battery a little more. Aside from that, highly recommend this device.

3Nice remote but kills battery on nano at least  Apr 02, 2011 By C. Mohr
I bought this after the old apple FM remote stopped working on the iPods. It works pretty well but it kills the battery life on my 6th gen nano. I can only assume it is because of the lcd on the remote.

5Sweet price on discontinued item.  Mar 12, 2011 By Michael Morales "Cool Guy Extraordinaire"
You can't buy these Griffin inline remotes with fm anywhere. I checked. And this one had a super price. Brand new. In original packaging. works great. Grab em while you can.
