3Good unit BUT...  Aug 24, 2011 By LMINTEL
This is a good unit for someone who wants to spend a lot of time manually recording cassettes. I bought it mainly for this purpose because I have a LOT of cassette tapes. My biggest issue with it was that it didnt have a rewind key for the cassette, nor a pause button. Two essentials (for me) for recording tapes. The one-touch (one-funtion) button for the cassette was just unacceptable for a unit of this price. My other issue was the lack of volume. I am NOT a person who likes to play my music at skull-splitting levels, but the maximum volume on this unit barely made it to comfortable, even for my modest taste, so those of you who like to break the music sound barrier wouldnt be happy with it. You also have to manually separate every track, unless you want all of your songs on one track. That means you cant start recording and go off and do other things until recording is finished. And the mode display was microscopic...literally. I had to use a magnifying glass to read the display, which was fully large enough to make the display info readable.
Other than these issues, it was a good unit, but I had to send it back because I just couldnt justify the price against its faults. Its fit, finish, and sound quality (minus the volume...no pun intended) were very good, and it is a quality unit otherwise.

5Just the Ticket.  Aug 15, 2011 By Gordon
The Jensen JTA-980 Stereo Turntable Music System has made for an attractive addition. The User Manual could be more specific and I initially stumbled to a halt. My problem was quickly rectified by kindly advice from Spectra Customer Service(Sylvia), who politely informed me of the corrective steps to acheiving success.
I've already tested the CD, phono' and cassette recording systems, finding them all, to give great reprodutive discs.
Thank-you Jensen, Amazon, Deepdiscount.com, Spectra and USPS for providing an excellent product and great service.
Gordon.

1Garbage!!!  Aug 31, 2011 By John Abar
This is a cheaply made hunk of junk. I had a Crosley that converted LPs to CD and that thing was also garbage. I got rid of it and bought this expensive piece of trash instead. The radio won't turn off. Can't listen to cds, cassettes, or records. Only garbage radio. It will not switch modes! Very frustrating. The speakers are a joke. They barely work. I tested them out, on the radio of course, and I could hardly hear the radio garbage whispering to me. Also, if you even slightly touch or move the speakers wires they go out. This thing is possibly worse than the Crosley piece of trash I used to own. I at least got a few good months out of that garbage. This one was defective as soon as I got it out of the box. Trust me when I tell you to stay away from this garbage and Crosley garbage. I'm starting to believe that I'm going to have to spend about a grand just to get a decent turntable that actually works. Too bad. Does anybody know of a halfway decent turntable with a cd burner that isn't going to break my bank account? Please help me out if you do. I'd like to listen to my records again someday. But seriously, this is TRASH GARBAGE JUNK! Terrible quality and obviously cheaply made. If you like music, stay away from Jensen and Crosley products!!! Stay away from mass produced made in China grabage if you can afford to. I wish I could.

4A Nice Little Machine  Oct 01, 2011 By Nina C. Swain
Has it's flaws but all in all I recommend it to the non professional. Recorder lacks a few options, but it's modestly priced, I like the turntable. I recommend you run it off a regular stereo amp/tuner. It lacks power but recording quality is good but machine sometimes makes whirring noise that gets recorded at beginning as it powers up. Also the start button hesitates some, and that causes errors. But I would recommend this to a friend, I'm very happy with it.

1return to china!!!!!!!!!!!!  Mar 02, 2012 By bobby coleman
Absolutely the worst stereo ever!!!!!!!Cassette is on the side. Am/fm did not work at all. Cassette sound was so low that when you turn it up, it roars like a jet. cd # 1 did play!!!Hurray!!!!!!!!! I went no farther, not trying the turntable, and boxed it up. I paid double shipping ($60) on this machine that should have stayed in China. When will companies start making quality products here in the GOOD OLD USA???????? Also, on the return address, it had "Return Center". I guess some other "victim" had returned it and they sent a defective machine to me!!!
