5Worth the money!!!  Dec 04, 2009 By Gowri Shankar "Gowri Shankar"
When I got this piece, there were no reviews at all, but still I wanted to buy it for its stylish looks. Frankly speaking, I didn't have much expectations on this prodcut interms of the sound quality, since its just 5W, but I was really surprised to see the sound it generates! Awesome sound quality - Too good for your bedroom. Obviously, you cannot compare it with a hometheatre system but for a iPod/iPhone dock, its way at the top. The FM radio, CD, AUX and USB ports are a big advantage and I was very pleased that it supports iPhone 3G and 3GS as well. I totally liked it and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

5great product!  Dec 08, 2009 By Bargain Junkie "Maurice"
ths sound quality is sufficient. it can be loud enough for my enjoyment. what i really like the most is that you can get your music from many ways. it has radio, it plays cds, plays mp3s from a burnt cd, mp3s from a usb drive and you can dock and play mp3s from your ipod. I think you can also link other players using the earphone jack adapter that was included in the box. I also like the design and how compact the player is. I also like what I paid for it too. over all this product is a great deal.

3Don't buy this as an alarm clock  Apr 03, 2010 By J. DeAngelis
I really liked the look of the unit and the functions that it offerred, and after seeing only 5-star reviews, I decided to purchase it. I wanted a good CD player, usb drive player, radio and it to function as an alarm clock. It provides an alarm, slowly increasing the volume of whatever you decide to wake up to, but no snooze. However, it does not provide a clock for very long. 15 mins after turning the unit to normal standby mode, the unit will enter Eco standby mode saving 1 watt, and the clock will no longer display. Therefore, I cannot see what time it is when looking at the unit. Also, when the clock is on (for the 15 mins), you have to look at the display straight on to actually read the display. I don't understand why Philips designed it this way. I may now return it because one of the basic features that I desired (a clock) is not up to my standards.

Otherwise the unit provides decent sound, pulls in FM stations pretty well, and has a lot of features. The remote works well, but the layout could be a little better.

1Speakers blew out after less than 2 years!  Mar 20, 2010 By A. R. Sharp
Update: Purchased this in November 2009. As of September 2011, the speakers crackle. We have very rarely exceed a moderate volume (10-14) the whole two years, even though we do tend to leave it on most of the day each day. Still, I expect speakers to last about 7 years on average, especially when used at a moderate volume. I have a pair of 40-watt speakers from radio shack, for example, that have lasted over 12 years before starting to crackle and they were used extensively--and at higher volumes.

Like the looks of this thing still, and its sleek functionality, but if it can't reliably pump out sound, who cares about the bells and whistles?

Easily hung on wall. Provides piece of paper with labeled drill holes to make it easy. Includes screws and dry-wall mounts. Manual states that the two screws should go into a stud but I had no problem mounting it on drywall. Very sturdy.

Sound quality is great. We're using it for the kitchen and living room in about a 1400 sq ft. space. It's great for the price. For not having a subwoofer, it's clear and does decent bass. By far the sleekest stereo I've seen or used.

Works great with iPods and iPhones. I'm using Pandora on it every day and LOVE it.

Programs up to 20 FM channels. Pretty easy to do. Remote control is not the most intuitive in the world, but it works at a pretty good range--at least 25 feet (haven't tried further than that) with line of sight.

Highly recommend!

1Horrible sound quality  Jun 15, 2010 By G. Campbell
When searching for a new stereo, I wanted something that integrated well with MP3s, an iPod and an iPhone. I also loved the design and the ability to hang it on the wall. Unfortunately, the sound quality is horrendously bad. It is muffled,as if the speakers are full of cotton. We tried all music inputs (radio, iPhone, iPod, CD) and they were all equally bad. Frankly, I was shocked that Philips would sell such a poor product. I wasn't expecting top of the line, as the price was fairly low, but basic sound clarity would have been nice. We returned it to Amazon.
